Tetyana Kachalenko is a 68 year old Ukrainian woman who has lived in Borodyanka since 1958.
Her husband, brother, sister and parents have all died. Her son died 3 years ago. She is left alone now.
Tetyana is suffering with many health problems since the war began. Her leg hurts, she has had two operations on her eyes, she has high blood pressure and stomach problems.
She was at home on the 24th of Feb. In the morning she was awoken by explosions. Russian and Belorussian military tanks passed through Borodyanka and went to Kyiv through Makarov.
“There were battles here. I was in the basement, I was all alone in this basement. When the planes dropped bombs, I was in the basement and prayed that I would either die quickly or survive. I began hearing furniture fall and crockery crashing on the veranda above me and windows falling. As I looked out of the basement for just a second I saw there were no windows, walls or roof. The shock wave that hit the high rise buildings that were bombed hit my house and demolished part of it.
I knew there would be a war. I had read one prophetic woman say that after 3 years of her death there would be a war. When Putin began to mobilize troops in Ukraine I felt this was it. The Olympics finished in China and on the 23rd on to Ukraine, that’s how it happened.
I hope that the ZSU wins. If only more weapons were given to our boys. I will not be going anywhere. My son, husband, nephew, sister, brother, mother-in-law, mother and father are all buried here. I will not leave them here.
I pray and ask God for the war to end soon, that he would give me health so that I can visit my son’s grave.
No one here supported me at all. As they were bombarding I jumped out into the road and there was no one there. I just ran and some guy picked me up in a car. We spent two nights in Teterevo and we were then taken to Kolomyia where the Mercy Center supported us for 3 months. Good people looked after us. Then I came back.
I take a low bow to the people who have helped. If it weren’t for them, everything would still be broken and battered. May God heal them so that God will be with them all.
