Kateryna Vasylivna

Name: Petrenko Kateryna Vasylivna
City: Kyiv region
Author: Oleg Gusev

Kateryna was born on November 26th, 1958, in Melitopil, Zaporizhya region. She was born into an ordinary Soviet family. At the age of 7, she went to school which she graduated from with honors. After finishing school she entered university, later she was married.

Everything was like an ordinary Soviet family but then trouble came. Her husband who was of great support, died. Little by little her grief was forgotten because she still had her son, who always tried to help and support her.

On February 24, 2022, the war began. Her son was taken to the front lines and she needed to leave her home and evacuate to Kyiv. Her son was later injured, but thank God is alive. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation treatment after his injury.

In October she was invited to the church, “Love of Christ” in Kyiv and attended a meeting. There she received the support and help through grocery kits.

It is not very easy for displaced people to survive in a new place. Everything they worked for all their lives remains at home.

But with God’s help and the support of the church and Mir ministries, this grief is easier to survive. Thank you to all the volunteers of this mission who support and help needy people in this difficult time.
